Hazel was born September 20, 1927 in the Duperow area. Attended school in Duperow and Dolmad. As a young girl she worked for a few families in the area and eventually worked for Wes and Hilda Watson and there she met Harold. They were married January 3, 1950 in Cranbrook, BC. The following year they moved back to the Biggar area and started farming and raising their family. With a very busy farm life and raising children, there was always an open door and a meal for the numerous visitors to the farm.

She was an active member of the community belonging to Royal Purple, Oxborough Ladies Club, Royal Canadian Legion, New Horizons, Anglican/United Ladies Group, and any others that needed help. Hazel also worked at Canton Cafe, Biggar Hotel and the Diamond Lodge.

She enjoyed her gardens, reading, knitting, playing cards, traveling and visiting with family and friends. She also had a great love of animals. Her family was very important to her, but the light of her life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend appreciation for the care provided by the staff at Biggar Lodge, Sunshine Care Home, her Doctors and Gerein Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
Honouring her wishes, her life will be celebrated with a private family graveside service. She will be laid to rest at the Biggar Cemetery next to Harold.
