Carolyn (Kelly) Rose Dwyer

May 20, 1943 – September 22, 2021

Kelly was born in Perdue, SK May 20, 1943, to Clarence and Queade (nee Baker) Scharf. She grew up in Perdue along with her siblings Joyce, Edna, and Jim. She attended Perdue school and participated in figure skating, curling and dance.

She moved to Saskatoon after high school and started working at Woolworths. She also met Jim Dwyer in 1960 and they have been inseparable ever since. While Jim was working on the road for construction, Kelly worked for SaskTel as an operator.

They married in April of 1963 and Kelly then followed Jim on the road in Saskatchewan as far north as La Ronge and south to Maple Creek. She worked as a camp cook for the construction crew. They welcomed a daughter Darlene in 1965. The little family continued to travel Saskatchewan until 1967 when they set down roots in Perdue ad started farming, On Christmas Eve of 1967 they welcomed a son, Johnny, making the family complete.

After a few years of working with Kelly’s dad Clarence and raising cattle they purchased a farm southwest of Perdue. They farmed from spring to fall each year and then move to town for the winter. During the winter months Kelly was curling and even took her team to first place at the Provincial Natural Ice Champions twice. She loved curling, whether it was playing or cheering on her fellow curlers and would be found at the rink most weekends.

Every summer the family went on a fishing vacation. Most summers were spent at Waterhen and then after Jim and Kelly retired, they found a spot at Keeley Lake and spent their summers fishing and making many new friends. The kids and grandkids were always welcome to come stay

Kelly also loved gardening and would spend hours in her vegetable garden and flower beds. She took considerable pride in her prize-winning gardens and made sure they were lush and weed free.

Kelly was continually active in beloved village of Perdue and honoured to hold a position of Town Councilor form 1985-1997 and Mayor from 2000-2009. She also was a member of the Perdue Rebekah’s until her death.

Kelly was predeceased by her husband Jim in 2020, her brother Jim, sister Edna and brother-in-law Dale.

Kelly is survived by her daughter Darlene (Mike Nahorney), and her son Johnny (Renate), and grandchildren Randy (Chelsey), Dylan, TJ, Brayden, Ryan, Tyson and great-grandchildren Averie, Chris, Tylen, Presley, Luke and sister Joyce.

At Jim and Kelly’s request interment and service will be held in the spring of 2022 when the weather is warm and the flowers are blooming.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Leney Cemetery would be appreciated.
